Dave Chappelle is one of the world’s greatest comedians and he once again proved that on Saturday.
Chappelle pulled out all of the stops for his performance on Saturday Night Live. He made one of the most brutally honest monologues into a great critique of political sphere in America.
“I didn’t know Donald Trump was gonna win the election. I did suspect it. Seemed like Hillary was doing well in the polls and yet, I know the whites. You guys aren’t as full of surprises as you used to be,” he said.
“America’s done it, we’ve actually elected an internet troll as our president,” he would later continue.
Chappelle also had a skit where he made fun of people who were flipping out over the election results.
“It might be a historic night, but just don’t forget it’s a big country,” Chappelle said. “You ever been around this country?.” After Hillary Clinton won Vermont, the Chappelle’s friends had a toast to the Latino voters so that they could win Florida. When she lost Florida Chappelle said, “I guess Latinos didn’t hear about your toast.” Oh yeah, and Chris Rock showed up.
“I don’t get you ladies. I mean, the country’s 55 percent women,” Rock said. “I mean, if the country was 55 percent black, we’d have tons of black presidents. Flavor Flav would be president.”
Then when Clinton began to sink further and further, every other person in the room besides Chappelle and Rock realized that the country was racist. “Oh my God! You know, I remember my great-grandfather told me something like that, but he was like a slave or something, I don’t know.” Rock would chime in about why Clinton didn’t do as well with the black population as Obama did saying, “You’re replacing a charismatic 40-year-old black guy with a 70-year-old white woman. That’s like the Knicks replacing Patrick Ewing with Neil Patrick Harris.”
Someone would then say that electing Donald Trump was “the most shameful thing America has ever done.” Rock and Chappelle started laughing hysterically.
This arguably wasn’t even close to Chappelle’s best skit of the night. He brought back some of his most famous characters from Chappelle’s Show: Clayton Bigsby, local newsman Chuck Taylor, Tyrone Biggums and Lil Jon. This was all in a spoof of the hit television show, The Walking Dead, where Chappelle also portrayed Negan.
Man, Chappelle is one of the greatest comedians of all time. Is it even up for debate now? No? I didn’t think so!
