Earl Thomas suffered a leg injury against the Carolina Panthers in the second quarter of Sunday’s matchup and was taken to the locker room in a cart.

Thomas left the game with 10:40 to go in the first half after getting injured. Sunday’s game was his first since hurting his hamstring against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Thomas’s leg bent in a very awkward direction as he was listed as questionable to return to the game:

Ian Rapoport would later confirm that Thomas’ leg was indeed broken:

Thomas would then tweet a huge bombshell: he is considering retirement due to the leg injury:

It would be very sad to see such a great player and human being leave the game that he loves due to a serious injury. At only 27-years old, Thomas has done so much in such a short time. Here is the list of his greatest accomplishments and statistics through the 2016 season:

  • 5× Pro Bowler (2011–2015)
  • 4× First-team All-Pro (2012–2015)
  • Second-team All-Pro (2011)
  • Super Bowl Champion (XLVIII)
